MJDPI Logo

This is the official logo of the MJD Pastoral Institute which was officially launched at the Partners' Banquet on 17 September 2012 by His Lordship, the Rt Rev. Paul Tan SJ, Bishop of Melaka-Johor, who was the guest-of-honour at the said occasion.

This logo is built upon the existing logo of the Diocese of Melaka-Johor, which primarily consists of the creative formation of the acronym "MJD", obviously standing for "Melaka-Johor Diocese". However, notice that this creative formation of the acronym also depicts a man holding up the cross in his left hand. This depiction reflects the call to all the faithful of the Church to be bearers of the cross as disciples of Jesus Christ.

With this new MJD Pastoral Institute logo, the "head" of the man in the existing logo of the Melaka-Johor Diocese, which is simply a circle (or dot) of the "J", has now been changed into a fire flame. This portrays the zeal with which we are called to live our lives as disciples of Christ and children of the Church. It also reflects the empowerment of Holy Spirit in our lives by virtue of our having received the Sacrament of Confirmation.

At the base of the logo is what looks like a book. The book, of course, speaks of the discipline of study in the life of the Christian. We are called to study the Word of God in both its written form and in the way it is lived in the life of the Church.

Notice also that the book is three-layered. This points to the most fundamental reality of the Christian faith, that the God we worship and about whom we study is none other than the Most Holy Trinity.
