The Weekend with Rabboni, a discovery weekend under the guidance of  Rt. Rev. Bishop Bernard Paul of Malacca Johore Diocese took place in Majodi Centre, Plentong, Masai, Johor Bahru on the 20th and 21st of May 2017. The retreat was participated by 40 people from Johor, Melaka and K.L. which included three language groups namely English, Mandarin and Bahasa Malaysia. The weekend was also facilitated by a priest, nuns and seminarians.

A group of fifteen Catholic Missionaries came from the Canadian Campus Ministry Catholic Christian Outreach (CCO) to proclaim, and equip Malaysian University students to become missionary disciples of joy. Having just finished training Campus Ministry (Working Adults) Team Leaders at the Malaysian Catholic Campus Students' Day (MCSSD) 2 from the 23rd - 27th of June 2017,  the CCO Missionaries tirelessly moved on to train the 25 campus student leaders who had come from all over Malaysia, representing six universities (ie Universiti Teknikal Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, University of Malaya, Universiti Malaysia Sabah Lifefire Campus Ministry, UNITAR International University-Sabah Regional Centre, and Newcastle University) from the 28th June - 5th July 2017 at the Sacred Heart Cathedral, Kota Kinabalu.

From the 23rd of April – 5th of May, 2017, the Catholic students from UiTM Pasir Gudang and Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan (PIS) organised their 2nd mission trip during their long semester break. While there was much initial enthusiasm in the few weeks before the trip as the members did their fundraising, the team experienced a setback due to last-minute withdrawals.

I am reminded of the words of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta (Mother Theresa) – “We are not called to be successful. We are called to be faithful”. We would do well in taking heed of these words which reminds us that even as the world judges all our efforts in terms of how much ‘success’ we have chalked up, God only requires us to be persistent in carrying out His will including reaching out to migrants and their families in their time of need and desolation.
